Rev. Steve Burnett, Trinity INterim Pastor: April 29-june 31, 2018

Steve Burnett retired July 2014 as the senior pastor of First United Methodist Church of Casper, Wyoming, and now lives with his wife Ingrid in Colorado Springs. In retirement Steve is coaching new pastors, serving on the planning team for the Conference Academy for Clergy Young in Ministry, and occasionally teaching an adult church school class. He chaired the Program and Arrangements Committee for the Western Jurisdictional 2016 Conference in Scottsdale, AZ.

Born in Meridian, Mississippi, Steve earned a B.A. from Millsaps College and a 4-Year Doctor of Ministry degree from the Claremont School of Theology, located in southern California. He served churches in Mississippi and in Colorado, where for eight years he supervised pastors and churches in the northern and central part of that State. In Mississippi Steve also served as associate director of the Mississippi Conference staff resourcing youth, young adult and camping ministries. From 1986-1992 Steve served on the National Board of Directors for the Christian Educators Fellowship, and was its President for two years. He has backpacked much of the Smoky as well as the Colorado Rocky Mountains, fished the Gulf of Mexico inland waters, and collected rare books. In his last appointment in Casper, Steve was also involved in many civic activities, including Casper Rotary, where he served five years on the Board and coordinated the startup of an Interact Club for high school students. Steve is now in the process of completing work for credentialing by the International Federation of Coaches.

Steve is married to Ingrid Burnett, an artist in pastels and oils, which she began after a career in university libraries and museums; his daughter Sarah lives with her husband Steve and daughters Ellen and Ada in Colorado Springs as well, where Sarah is an elementary school teacher.
