Children and the Sacrament of Holy Communion

The Children's Sunday School classes have been studying the Sacrament of Holy Communion. They recently visited the Sanctuary and practiced kneeling at the communion rail and praying. They also tasted a variety of breads and grape juice, and older children made Matzah bread.

Sunday School children will be returning to worship to receive communion on days that Trinity serves during worship. The children are taught why they are there, what to expect, how to behave and to be respectful when receiving the Sacrament of Holy Communion. Parents are invited to join their own children at the communion rail during this time. Please let Sunday School teachers or Allison Watkins know if you prefer your child to not receive communion.

Children will be partaking of communion on the following Sundays:

  • Epiphany, January 7
  • First Sunday of Lent, February 18
  • Pentecost, May 20

Learn more about the sacrament of Holy Communion as it applies to children, and in accordance with the United Methodist Church.
