Advent Organ Recital: David Vogels

David Vogels, CAGO, has been organist at several Denver-area churches, including St. John’s Episcopal Church in Boulder and Wheat Ridge United Methodist Church, and currently works on a freelance basis. He has performed recitals in Colorado and Texas, with a particular emphasis on new music, and has commissioned works for organ by William Albright, Naji Hakim, Dan Locklair, Stephen Paulus, and C. Curtis-Smith.
Mr. Vogels served six years each as the American Guild of Organists’ National Councillor for Competitions and New Music and National Councillor for Professional Concerns, and he is a past Dean of the Denver Rocky Mountain Chapter. A monthly columnist for The American Organist magazine, he has recently translated the most comprehensive survey of Messiaen’s monumental organ cycle, Olivier Messiaen’s Livre du Saint Sacrement: Mystery of the Eucharistic Presence by Dorothee Bauer, from the original German for publication by Brill | Schöningh.
Mr. Vogels is Executive Editor of the Journal of Clinical Orthodontics and was the founding Editor of Sommelier Journal. He holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Missouri and a master’s in music literature from the University of Colorado. His other interests include popular music, wine, and golf.
For this concert, Mr. Vogels will be joined by bass-baritone Jerome Síbulo, who is also the Director of Music & Arts Ministry at Trinity United Methodist Church.
Admission to this Advent organ recital is FREE, and freewill donations will be accepted. We will have a BURRITO LUNCH in Fellowship Hall from noon til the start of the concert. Validated parking available in the garage only. Street parking on Sunday is free and surface lots available for a fee.

The Trinity Music & Arts Ministry season 2024-25 is Everybody Belongs, and we are celebrating this holiday season by showcasing the artistic gifts that our ministry volunteers and staff bring to the table! Join our Chancel Choir, Flute Ensemble, Bell Ensemble, Trinity Bell Trio, and community soloists and small ensembles for an afternoon of music, community, and the holiday spirit.

Winter Dreams: Duo Kondens & Wild Beautiful Orchestra

Kick off the winter season with some cool music to warm your hearts! Trinity Presents is thrilled to host Duo Kondens (an organ and classical recorder duo from Sweden) and the Wild Beautiful Orchestra performing works by Vivaldi, Piazzolla, and Fleshquartet. Also featuring a new composition by Sweden's Per Egland plus a work by Denver's own Nathan Hall. Enjoy this winter-themed concert in the historic sanctuary of Trinity United Methodist Church.
Joining us for 11am worship that day? Duo Kondens will be providing music for church. We will also have our BURRITO LUNCH in Fellowship Hall from noon until the start of the concert. Validated parking available in the garage only. Street parking is free and surface lots available for a fee.
Advent Organ Recital: Joel Trekell

Joel Trekell is the Director of Music and Organist at Grace and St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Colorado Springs. He grew up in Aurora, Colorado and began playing the piano and organ at a young age, being inspired by the fine organs at Temple Square in Salt Lake City, Utah. After leaving Aurora, Joel studied organ at Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey and served concurrently at Trinity Episcopal Church and the Episcopal Church at Princeton University. Following his studies at Westminster, Joel spent a gap year at Hereford Cathedral in the UK where he served as the organ scholar, accompanying the cathedral choirs in daily choral services and assisting in the training of the choristers.
Before moving to Colorado Springs, Joel completed his master's degree in sacred music at the University of Houston and served as the Associate Director of Music at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Houston, Texas. Joel has performed regularly as a recitalist, with highlights including Coventry Cathedral, Truro Cathedral, Exeter College (Oxford), Hereford Cathedral, the Princeton University Chapel, and Christ Church Cathedral in Houston. Joel is the youngest of four brothers and in his free time enjoys running, playing the piano, and spending time with his friends and family.
